Description
Jaguar XJ 4.2 V8 Executive – full history – very well maintained (G&G Autoservice) It breaks my heart to sell my beloved 2004 Jaguar XJ 4.2 Executive. I have driven this car since 2018. Back then I bought it from Jagpoint in Soesterberg with 188,000 kilometers on the clock. It now has approximately 316,000 kilometers on it, and after more than eight years and around 128,000 kilometers together, I know the car inside and out. The Jaguar has a complete maintenance history. In the early years it was maintained by the Jaguar dealer and afterwards always by Jaguar specialists. Until 2018 the maintenance was carried out by Jagpoint in Soesterberg. From 2018 to the present day, the car has been maintained by G&G Autoservice in Heinkenszand, a specialist in these Jaguars. Last month the car also had a maintenance service costing over 1000 euros, during which the front control arms were also replaced. It was also fitted with a new MOT. Until 2018 the car was mainly driven in the Amersfoort area. After purchasing it, I first drove it privately for a few months. When it turned 15 years old, I drove it as a youngtimer from 2019 through 2024. Over the past two years I have driven it privately again. Maintenance has always been the most important thing for me My goal has always been to keep this XJ in top technical condition, so I could cover many miles without worries. A large part of that consists of long motorway trips. I have taken the car abroad a lot and therefore found it important to be able to rely on it. It has lived up to that trust: in the approximately 128,000 kilometers I have driven it myself, it has never let me down. The car gets maintenance every year, and over the years I have also had various things tackled preventively. There is a whole folder with the complete maintenance history and invoices. A few highlights from the maintenance over the past years: • Automatic gearbox flushed around 180,000 km • Flushed again in 2024 at approximately 290,000 km. This was not necessary, but the car was used as a demonstration for flushing an automatic gearbox during a technical day of the Jaguar forum • New rear air springs • New air suspension compressor • control arms replaced • New headliner • Air conditioning system overhauled a few years ago and serviced again last month • Maintenance service last month • Recently new front control arms • Fresh MOT Over the past eight years, I have actually come across and addressed all the usual issues that can occur with an X350 of this age and mileage. For anyone wondering whether 316,000 kilometers is a lot for a well-maintained X350: in AutoWeek of March 5 there is an example with no less than 614,000 kilometers on the clock (original gearbox and engine), without any significant major problems. A nice illustration of what these cars are capable of when properly maintained. Built for long distances Over the years, this Jaguar has also made some truly great trips. One of the highlights was a trip to England where I visited the Jaguar factory with the Jaguar. In addition, we made several trips to England and France together. I lived in Southampton for a while and from there regularly drove the XJ back and forth to the Netherlands. A significant part of the kilometers I have covered with the car therefore consists of long motorway journeys. And that is exactly what this XJ was made for. It remains a fantastic long-distance car: quiet, comfortable, fast and incredibly relaxing to drive for hours on end. The naturally aspirated 4.2 V8 suits the character of the car perfectly. Despite the V8, fuel consumption is surprisingly decent for a car of this size. My average is around 10 liters per 100 kilometers.
